Pulsed Eddy Current Inspection (PEC)

Non-intrusive screening for corrosion under insulation and corrosion through fireproofing — without large-scale insulation removal.

Overview

What we deliver

Pulsed Eddy Current is a screening method that measures average wall thickness through insulation, coatings, weather jacketing, and fireproofing without removing them.

PEC is well suited for CUI programs on piping and vessels where intrusive inspection would require significant insulation work. AIT uses PEC to quickly cover large surface areas and prioritize follow-up inspection.

Benefits

  • Reduced insulation removal and reinstallation
  • Reduced access requirements (scaffolding, rope access)
  • Faster screening of large surface areas
  • Prioritization of follow-up advanced UT inspection
