Our History

Twenty years of advanced inspection.

AIT was founded with a focus on advanced ultrasonic applications. After a period inside a larger organization, the company returned to independent ownership — rebuilt by the people who run the work in the field.

  1. 2005

    Founded

AIT founded with a focus on advanced ultrasonic applications and computed radiography. Specialized in advanced UT for dissimilar metal inspection of downstream components, and pioneered automated PAUT/TOFD inspection of 9 nickel and small-diameter components in nuclear applications.

  2. 2012

    Acquired by ALS

AIT was acquired by ALS, which recognized its advanced UT and RT capabilities as valuable assets, and was rebranded under ALS. Integration enabled further growth, including a major new construction project in the Northeast.

  3. 2021

    Reborn — Manager-Owned

ALS divested its Asset Care Division. Nine partners came together to acquire the US assets, resurrecting the AIT brand. Today AIT operates as a manager-owned company, with owners actively engaged as technicians, inspectors, and project managers in the field.

Manager-Owned

Leadership that works in the field.

AIT is owned by the same people who run the inspections. The ownership group brings more than 120 years of combined NDE experience across Eddy Current, Phased Array, API inspections, advanced radiography, and traditional NDE methods.

Our core team has worked together for more than 20 years, in oil and gas (upstream, midstream, and downstream), petrochemicals, power generation, and mining. Owners remain directly involved as technicians, inspectors, and project managers — keeping a short, accountable line between the field and the customer.
